   Apple has completely fucked up Spotlight on my M2 MacBook Air with this latest update to Sequoia.

   For DECADES I have used spotlight to open my apps. Now, spotlight won't go active unless I click on the desktop first and will list everything EXCEPT my applications.

     @heymarkreeves @chris @jp I will probably go back to Alfred in the future, as Raycast smells of something that will be sold to yet another shit company.

     @chris @jp I stopped using it long ago. First by switching to Alfred, now to Raycast. Both are working on Spotlight indexes and both are massively superior.

     I keep thinking about when Spotlight got a massive update with Tiger (or was it Leopard?). In a fraction of a second it would find precisely what document or email or image I was looking for.

     Huge fan of Alfred here, it's absolutely worth learning how to write your own extensions for it, I don't write many, but when I do, it's just great 👍

     Oh, except I ditched Mac OS because they are embarking on an enshittification cycle to try and sell us the same stuff all over again.

     Very happy with Ubuntu - it's absolutely flying on a 12 year old Macbook Air!

     Someone posted this 12 year old mac is probably faster 🤣

     Yeah, easy to spend time writing things only to not use them, I just wait until I get irritated repeating the same action over and over.

     Converting HEIC images to JPG and removing metadata was a good example 👍
