@kongakong I take your points and don't disagree.
Also, I guess a joke can also be taken for rhetoric.
@WarnerCrocker New startups always become a target of DDOS attacks. It's just an operational issue and any competent startup can resolve it quickly. I don't agree with this "war" rheotoric. On the surface USA and China are in a competition in the area of AI tech. But AI will eventually become as mundane as databases. We are just dazed by the pace of the evolution in this space: Google & OpenAI's models already feel like the expensive IBM mainframe db IMS whereas DeepSeek is the cheap MS Access.
@kongakong No worries my friend. As of the war rhetoric, we exhausted the rhetorical usefulness of that long before Biden and Trump with Wars on Poverty, Inflation, Drugs, etc... That's part of our larger problem, but that's for another day.
As for software, you're right there, but I think the bigger field of play (sports not war this time) is infrastructure and hardware spends. That's why Deep Seek was such a hand grenade. Real or not, ./more
@WarnerCrocker Sorry if I caused any misunderstanding: when I said "I don't agree with this war rheotoric", I am referring to the Biden and Trump admininstrations' language in their policy and strategy. That's why they chose to place an embargo on AI chips or pour billions into Stargate. While this kind of policy may make sense in many other area, it won't work on AI because AI is essentially software.
@kongakong it opened a potential window of doubt on all of the pitch decks laying out the extraordinary cost structures needed to run that software. Nothing drives the markets crazier than doubt, especially if they think they've bet on a sure thing.
