     @santiago yeah this is a Sputnik moment for the US. China basically leapfrogged top commercial models developed in the US, and made the whole business model of selling AI as a service obsolete. This is also going to suck for Nvidia since large volumes of top end chips are no longer necessary for training.

     @sun @santiago thing is that they already tried making the models bigger, and it turns out that this doesn't actually make the results better.

     I expect that the effort going forward is going to be largely on the software side with figuring out better algorithms and how to get reliable and repeatable results.

     The business model OpenAI was pursuing is dead now.

     @yogthos @santiago I hope so but I am skeptical. At any rate it's obvious that OpenAI's top priority is acquiring and maintaining government contracts though lobbying, whether or not it works.

     But since 1 or 2 month all their stock prices go down, meaning, the bubble popped, maybe related to publication of Chinese paper, 2 month ago, but not sure. It looks like a Ponzi thing for investors.... And so much people that want to close all AI things pushed by big compnanies things (search engines, reedit, number of empty text articles on so much websites) due to bad results.
