Saturday, 7am.
I got two coffees in me and I’m about to start tweaking the script for my first video about the Fediverse.
I hope you don’t mind if I share my process with you. I always get such smart feedback and advice.
Pre-sunrise thought: I could eventually turn each article from #TheFutureIsFederated into a video, to introduce people to various Fediverse projects. One video a month seems like an attainable goal.

A fabulous idea.
Once you’ve the raw material I propose to cut videos of different lengths for different purposes.
Maximum length for explanation and ‘how to’.
Short 6-10 sec videos for promotion at TicToc/ YouTube/ Instagram/ Twitch/ LinkedIn/ Loops etc.

From a lowercase-a accessibility standpoint, would you consider reducing/eliminating jargon from your pieces? “Fediverse” and even “federated” alienate and exclude people who are just trying to find an ethical, respectful social network, but they’re used liberally here.
Some alternatives like “social web” or “compatible” or even like “these sites all share the same plumbing” would go a long way to welcoming non-techies here. 💙

I now have a version of the script I really like. The challenge: finding a cinematic way to film it.
I want this/all the videos to have voice-over narration (instead of me speaking to the camera) so I can quickly / easily make foreign language versions.
Tomorrow I start filming 🎥

@_elena Sounds very good! Voice over + Cinematic seems like a great choice. Will you have some explanative motion graphics as well, or do you want to rather have everything on camera? Can't wait to see it when you're done, have a good filming day tomorrow (and Sunday now ☺️)!

@nclm definitely motion graphics as well - I used to spent 8 hours a day doing VFX in AfterEffects. I haven’t touched it in 3-4 years and I’m hoping skills will come back 😅

@nclm I hope so - it’s definitely true for editing but AfterEffects is on a whole other league of difficulty.
I had initially planned for 8 hours of VFX (for a 5 min video), I may double that, rusty skills and all 😅

Today I plan to open up AfterEffects and do some basic motion work. All fingers and toes crossed I will remember things after 3 years 😅
