The excessive use of mobile phones has made our eyes more sensitive, making the dark mode very important. It has become more of a necessity than ever, especially for an essential app like Pixelfed, where we spend most of our time.

It must be done this week before Bluesky launches its app, as they will get ahead of us, and most people looking for an Instagram alternative will go to them instead of coming to Pixelfed.

@dansup Dark mode is an accessibility feature, and shouldn't be an afterthought. There are people that are oversensitive for light. This can have a physical reason (eyesight issues) or a mental reason (e.g. autism).
