@sun The funny thing is that the threads were completely random. I said nothing that would lead into it and both just happened.
A bit like that time I was like nationalism... how is that different to patriotism? And suddenly a few people wanted me really gone. Like off this site, off this planet. Basically dead. That was weird.

otherwise the subject matter wouldn't offend them too much, they don't like any supremacy, at all, be it jewish or white supremacy

@sim @sun in the real world patriotism and nationalism intersect, indubitably, but patriotism is a sober and weighted love for your own country with the acknowledgement of its flaws and a desire and drive to see it rise up above them and thrive, nationalism is just when you throw any sobriety or common sense out the window and romanticize your nation and people to the point of idolatry, bonus points if you've done absolutely fucking nothing to contribute to the feats of strength you attribute to your own people

@lina @sun Well, it was the earlier adopters of mastodon that flipped out here at me. I think those guys moved on now because I haven't seen them since. Thankfully I had the support of my side of fedi after that weird overreaction. They behave as though everyone should be American and act and understand American terminology.
