Gnome is a more "iPad-like" experience, KDE is customizable and similar to Windows, XFCE is light for older or lower spec machines,...
Unlike Windows that just has... Windows.

Steam has done so god damn much with Proton! Granted, they wanted to sell Steam Decks and needed to make games work to do that, but they could have easily kept the thing proprietary as fuck.
LoL, were you on Linux back in the days of WiFi driver wrappers and "🤷♀️ How badly do I NEED bluetooth?"

It really has gotten MUCH easier.I was in the middle of helping one of my kids install Linux while having this conversation 😂
That was the last computer running Windows in our house. They play a lot of games, so they had been scared to switch, but they are now successfully running Linux Mint, and installing their games as we speak.
