    May I ask what exactly do you guys think that you are doing?

    Nobody asks you to like or praise the Democratic Party. This does not mean that supporting MAGA is under any circumstances acceptable.

    https://mastodon.social/@protonprivacy/113833073219145503
    "Until corporate Dems are thrown out, the reality is that Republicans remain more likely to tackle Big Tech abuses."

    The fact that you find the American extreme right a suitable ally for your ambitions completely invalidates any positive stance that you claim to have on marginalized people and human rights.

    I urge both Proton and Andy Yen to apologize for what I can only call a blatant breach of their users' trust and to reconsider their public support for fascism and violence against minorities and others.

      3. "For example, recently we refused pressure to deplatform both Palestinian student groups and Zionist student groups, not because we necessarily agreed with their views, but because we believe more strongly in their right to have their own views." - Good on you, the discussion has absolutely nothing to do with this. I do not think that there is any need to talk about "deplatforming" specific groups in the context of being an email provider. I hope you can agree that if we would need to talk about this, there would be much bigger issues at hand.

      The rest of the post derails in the direction of point 3., i.e. not addressing the complaint.

      I hope to hear from you soon, thank you.

      @protonprivacy @arh they don’t answer. And they will never do.

      🧵 1/3

      @protonprivacy

      I cannot help but notice that as of now, there's no official statement from you here on Mastodon.

      I have noticed your (Andy Yen's) Reddit post, because it seems like he's the one running the official Proton account now... https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/1i2nz9v/on_politics_and_proton_a_message_from_andy/

      I consider that it almost completely misses the point, stirring the discussion in a different, uncalled for direction.

      I would like an official response here, from Proton as a company, not as a single individual who has access to the account, clarifying your position on this matter (support for the Republican party, the deletion of past posts with no official explanation given. Who runs this account and whose views are expressed?).

      🧵 2/3

      @protonprivacy

      Additionally, I will tackle a few of the points expressed in the Reddit post:

      1. "the X post was not intended to be a political statement" - It is quite clearly a political statement.

      2. "While we will not prohibit all employees from expressing personal political opinions publicly, it is something I will personally avoid in the future" - Nobody asks employees to refrain from expressing personal opinions publicly. It is not a requirement that should even be considered. But as a CEO, any public statement can be more easily attributed to the company as a whole, therefore we asked Proton for their position regarding the subject. The answer (or lack of answers) we received was less than satisfactory.
