Can all of those who still believe that “the rule of law” stop believing that now? Those days are gone. #politics

But, Joe Biden seems to still believe that. And the Easter Bunny. And Santa Claus. And good Republicans.

@WarnerCrocker A lot of this is going to be perfectly legal. That's what happens when dictators take over. The Holocaust was legal. Slavery was legal. Burning women at the stake was legal. The laws are going to change. He has already rescinded a Biden executive order on the census. Voting maps may change.
And it's all going to be legal.

@VulcanTourist I disagree. It's been fading for a long time. Today but the final nail in that coffin. If it exists only in an age or epoch when it is applied and followed by the lawgivers it bodes on being yet another American myth.

Still exists and always has, it just never ever in any age or epoch applies equally to conservatives because of the "Get Out of ROL" card that they carry at all times.

@MarkSquiresWine You're more optimistic than I. I don't see it ever coming back after this. History tells us that story all to well,

@VulcanTourist You're correct we could and we shouldn't. But there's not a hope in hell of codifying what you suggest. The lessons of man's history on earth say that when things reach this point they hang around for awhile until everyone gets angry enough to tear it all down. If it's rebuilt, it may resemble what was, but typically becomes something different. The rise and eventual fall always leaves what was in worse shape and even more vulnerable than what was lost.

We can argue ourselves hoarse over the historic nuance of whether it's faded from an earlier Golden Age or its antithesis emerged in full colors from hiding in the political closet, but it's gone now unless and until the majority finally recognizes AND CODIFIES that conservatism IS NOT simply another opinion, it's flatly unethical and hostile to the Common Good.

@WarnerCrocker Yeah. You may have a point. At least, in any normal fashion. Eventually, things erupt. I don't think the American people will consent to be Elon Musk's serfs forever.
