Walgreens CEO says when you lock things up to prevent shoplifting, you don’t sell things either

   LOL

@skinnylatte I'm sure the combination of locking up items + not paying their employees enough such that they're always short-staffed is a great combination!

@skinnylatte Also it turns out that when you don’t hire pharmacists it is hard to sell pharmaceuticals; sun rises in East; etc.

Signed, guy who finally switched to Amazon Pharmacy for everything that’s not burningly time sensitive because waiting for hours in a Walgreens aisle is unappealing

@luis_in_brief it has all of the staples and delivery is weird.

You can deliver some things from Costco.com but not fresh things (for which you have to use sameday.costco.com, which is Instacart).

The savings on toilet paper, kitchen towels, Impossible nuggets (they have the large pack no one else does for the same price as the small one), detergent and pharmacy is worth the cost for me tho (in addition to prime).

The pharmacy is really good and their out of pocket prices for optometry and pharmacy is comparable to insured prices for both at non-Costco places. Very cheap vaccines even without insurance.

@skinnylatte Yeah I’ve been wondering if it is finally time to do a Costco membership to replace Prime.

@luis_in_brief you can also use Costco pharmacy without being a member! But if it’s not super close to you then it’s not useful

@skinnylatte I’m in the south side of the Mission, so just a mile and a half to the SOMA Costco. Easy cargo bike ride. (I don’t really Prime all that much anyway, though I suppose that’s famous last words 😂)

@skinnylatte @anildash I saw workers in my store taking apart all the locked plexiglass and releasing body lotions to the shelf.

But I’m unclear if that’s a bold new strategy to sell products again or because this store is closing forever in a few weeks. (Hmmm. I have ideas why it’s closing.)
