   Chinese dramas are released at a frantic pace, with a 40-episode drama sometimes ending its run under a month. Imagine several seasons of Game of Thrones, for example, aired under just four weeks, and you’ll get the crazy volume and pace of CDrama releases.

   “Under the Moonlight” is from a much-lauded production company, so lots of people have high expectations for it. If you enjoy costumed mystery dramas like “Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty”, you may enjoy "Under the Moonlight" which is set during the Ming dynasty.

     @seanbala some do have seasons but it's rare. It usually means that they were very popular or very good.

     @liztai I wonder how having 40 episodes guaranteed to tell a story changes the narratives. I've reflected about how production constraints change story telling. For example, many British series are a small number of episodes. In the US, almost all series are approved season to season so it can be hard to tell complete stories. Shows used to have 20 episodes per season but now have fewer. And many streaming services shows have two endings - one in case of cancellation and one if it goes on.

     @seanbala I like Cdramas that are long like 40 eps. Heck in the older days they can go up to 100 episodes sometimes. These are sagas more than anything and it would be impossible to confine it to 16 episodes. However if the story doesnt warrant it, it will be a drag.
