@gabi Time to cleanse it with a free operating system.

@gabi What's the hardware (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, GPU)? I'll be able to determine if Triquel with run just fine with those details.

@r I'm pretty sure I can't do that with that piece of shit. It's as free as possible, though.

@gabi NIC will work.
GPU should work at native resolution with the radeon driver, but with no 3D accel and no ACPI S3 suspend.
Unfortunately, the proprietary peripheral software that runs on the GPU appears to be handcuffed.

@Suiseiseki Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCIe GBE NIC. Radeon Vega 7. Wi-Fi is not required.

@gabi I believe you aren't copying the live image to the storage medium properly as Trisquel always works no matter where I try to run it.

@Suiseiseki Thanks. I have repeatedly tried over time to at least test Trisquel on that Pentagon control terminal. Unfortunately, I can't get past GNU GRUB, even with nomodeset as a workaround.

@gabi As far as I can tell, the issue is how the Radeon Vega 7 card is broken.
If you have integrated graphics, or have another card to try with that is not an AMD one it will work.

@gabi >is it possible to achieve the same level of freedom as Trisquel (theoretically 100%) by liberating Gentoo?
Yes, considering that the Gentoo stage3 contains only free software as it doesn't have Linux in it.
You just set ACCEPT_LICENSE="-* @FREE -Artistic", manually install Linux-libre (all the Linux ebuilds are for the proprietary version of Linux, although the rt-sources ebuild has a USE option to run the Linux-libre deblob script) and carefully watch out for other proprietary software with an incorrect LICENSE.
You still have to fight for your freedom, as Gentoo developers don't believe in the concept of someone using Gentoo without proprietary software.

@Suiseiseki I just successfully booted Trisquel on my computer with Parabola. I tried again on the Pentagon’s control terminal but couldn’t get past GRUB. I disassembled the USB flash drive and noticed several broken traces. I could repair them, but it’s really not worth it since the NAND flash memory has worn out. So, I got a new USB flash drive and managed to boot Trisquel properly on dirty puter. Everything seems to be working fine. I don’t care about hardware acceleration or ACPI S3.
Let me ask you a question, and I hope you can answer: is it possible to achieve the same level of freedom as Trisquel (theoretically 100%) by liberating Gentoo?
Thank you in advance.

@Suiseiseki I just saw your deleted post (you shouldn't have done that). I had Trisquel on my USB drive, and the last time I used it on another computer, it worked fine. But I just realized it's reached the end of its life. I can't get past GNU GRUB even on my Parabola GNU/GNU Linux-libre machine. God willing, I'll try testing Trisquel again this week on dirty puter with a proper bootable medium.
