   There are apps that use AI to generate alt text, I'm not comfortable doing that in @pixelfed unless we can do that on device without any 3rd party depenencies.

   The whole point of Pixelfed is to be an independent, federated platform for photo sharing, if I start polluting it with 3rd party services, it would ruin the whole vibe.

   We can do translations and other cool stuff on device, with a focus on privacy.

   Not interested otherwise! Privacy first.

     @dansup even on-device, the generated descriptions are often not helpful to people who rely on them. it’s a very bad look if you claim to care about accessibility.
