@RegGuy @MariaHill @yuhasz01 @TonyStark I was horrified to watch this unfurl in real time. It started as an "(unjustified) sense of entitlement" and "self-entitled", and people thought the operative word and what was bad about it was to be entitled, not that people believed themselves to be entitled to things they weren't.

@MariaHill @yuhasz01 @TonyStark Thank you. A simple search finds us "Entitlement is a term that refers to something, often a benefit from the government, that you have the right to have. Entitlements are based on legal frameworks of a society that are derived from concepts of principle, rights, social equality, or enfranchisement."

@yuhasz01 @TonyStark "Entitlement" has been made a dirty word. You are ENTITLED to receive Social Security payments in your old age or if you become disabled for having worked for more than 10 years (or meeting other requirements such as being a surviving spouse or dependent child or someone who did; not an exhaustive list of ways you can qualify). This is a good thing, not a bad thing.

@TonyStark Social security is an independent trust, not part of Federal budget, financed by payroll taxes. It is NOT an entitlement and finances itself. It can't help Federal budget mess so leave it alone......

Good. Anyone who pays in to Social Security deserves the full benefit without being penalized for working another job.

Democrats want to help everyday people and Republicans don’t. The incoming Republican administration is already planning to take away Social Security to give tax cuts to themselves and the very wealthy. They say it out loud.

If I know that, other people should.
