I was a kid when Paramus Park opened just 15 minutes away from our house in Fair Lawn. As I recall, the mall is where our parents sent us to get us out of the house and off the streets
Ou sont les Spencer Gifts d'anton?

@kims I was 13 when the mall nearest me opened. It was too far to walk, so we had to get rides, but that is where we all hung out.
@EricaFriedman
We could just about bike the 4 miles to Paramus Park or the much closer Garden State Plaza, but PP had the better bookstore (Waldenbooks) and record store (Harmony Hut). Plus, unlike GSP, it was all indoors.
Thankfully, there were always parents or older sublings happy to drop us off and pick us up if only to get us out of their hair.
@kyleha
The fountain! In my family, it was always "outside Fortunoffs"
Although more than once my mom would find me just sitting on the floor somewhere in Waldenbooks reading whatever I'd pulled off the shelf. That's how 11-year-old me discovered Naked Lunch.
I also bought a ton of 45s at Harmony Hut. Hard to believe songs like _Could It Be Magic_ and _Someone Saved My Life Tonight_ turn 50 this year.
@kims I don't remember how old I was, but it was before cell phones. All I had was a watch and instructions to meet Mom at the fountain at a certain time.
