I'm having an issue with my MNT Pocket Reform and I get this post from @mntmn
Literally what other laptop manufacturer would you get troubleshooting help by the founder recording a video and sending it to you on the fediverse 💜

@phantasus @mntmn The Pocket Reform is amazing
Unfortunately it's not really booting right now, I think it's a problem with a display. But I was able to open it and confirm it wasn't an issue with the cable and understand that much. It feels extremely approachable, and the device is a joy to use
I have high hopes for the Reform Next. Every MNT product gets much better and the Next's design looks like exactly what I want (if I can get it to run Guix)
@cwebber @mntmn I'm also thinking about throwing money at a Reform Next, now it has the rough (even slightly smaller) dimensions of a Thinkpad X230, which is great because all my bags are optimized for that size (= not the size of the big Reform).
So how (our dear queen) does the Reform Pocket hold up quality-wise?
@liaizon @phantasus Thank you! Yes I just talked to @mntmn on IRC and I'm gonna ship it over for repair :)
It would be awesome if we could get it fixed before FOSDEM! My not-so-secret goals:
- Get the entire Guix community hyped about the Pocket Reform and Reform Next and try to converge our efforts on MNT's stuff as a platform (whether we have to use nonguix or not)
- Ideally: have the MNT Reform Next be good enough to be a Standard Issue Spritely Laptop
@cwebber @phantasus @mntmn oh no that's no good! We will get you sorted out! The fact that you have one makes me so excited to see.
@liaizon @phantasus @mntmn We'll definitely need Guix for that latter one
But I *hate* hearing that an employee is having hardware issues and trying to remotely help debug and feeling hopeless about the state of computers all over again! The MNT Reform Next looks like genuinely the right design. Hopeful about it!
