Ah yes, CUPS, that integral structural part of Linux where if it doesn't exist, Linux simply is unable to function and be called Linux

@apropos hat's not what I mean, there's a mode that disables the immutabliness and basically lets you use it like Arch

      >if you activate dev mode
you go to the power menu and one of the options is "desktop mode". It's not even a special dev mode, it's a very visible reboot option.

@BrodieOnLinux OK, but I wouldn't count the immutableness against it being Linux. There's stuff like Fedora CoreOS out there. Even Android giving every program its own uid and having a common messaging bus is something a distro could do.

@BrodieOnLinux haters gonna hate . Anyway ѕo if I boot my Arch Linux PC, run Steam and enter Big Picture Mode, it suddenly becomes not Linux… or is it just because I have Steam installed? І՝m confused

@aismallard Most of the time you're not in desktop mode, the games you're running are in gamescope a Wayland compositor so it's a bit of both.

@BrodieOnLinux you can also just… install cups?

the X11 thing is a legitimate criticism of SteamOS, but it’s not a legitimate criticism of the idea that it’s linux lol

@BrodieOnLinux name another kernel that gets mistaken for an entire OS. You can't be mad at people for not understanding the distinction

@BrodieOnLinux How do you have the energy to read and interact with all profoundly annoying people and comments? Just reading two of them makes me want to jump off a bridge.
