    my name is `adduser`
    and my brother's `useradd`
    one of us is good
and one of us is bad!

    which of us is which?
there is no way to know
    we change names sometimes
to keep you on your toes!

@robey don't forget "createuser" when you have Postgres installed. Have accidentally called that one before ...

one of us usually tells the truth
      the other sometimes lies
but if we told you which was which
      we'd spoil the surprise!

@robey Great thing about pw(8) is it doesn't care which order you use: `useradd`, `adduser`, `addgroup`, `groupadd`, whatever.

@robey I just edit /etc/{group,passwd} with vi and then run pwck and grpck and passwd because I cannot deal with this.

@robey I thought the only time you'd use adduser is when writing a pre-install script for a deb package...

@wolf480pl @robey Checked manpages to be sure and adduser seems to be on BSDs.
That said I've mainly used illumos and Linux with ignoring the annoying adduser of Debian so useradd it is for me (which I remember via the related usermod command).
