     But jokes aside, who wrote this? Why would you want that? It's federated for a reason. And it wouldn't make it private, since anyone can just type the web address on their browser. If you want a private friend chat, do discord. Or whatsapp. Or whatever that privacy thing is called. But not mastodon xD

     I skimmed it.
     Basically some guy new to fedi wanted to experiment with the software and framework of federation.

     He ended up doing it in a way that pissed off a lot of people, and his conclusion was that fedi would be in big trouble if someone more malicious were to do the same thing, hence suggestions like that post she's showing.
