Also, by the way, while we're at it let's tax the churches and also give that money to libraries.

Are we going to tax mosques and synagogues too?

@bipartisan @jbhughes Yes. Tax exempt status for religious orgs violates thr establishment clause. It's effectively government funding of them.

@bipartisan @jbhughes I'm strongly in favor of abolishing all tax exempt status for all orgs. It lets the wealthy buy influence and cheat the public out of tax revenue at the same time. And it muzzles left orgs that constantly worry about doing something too political that would compromise their status, while right orgs flaunt the law and use tax exempt megachurches as campaign weapons.

@azonenberg @bipartisan @jbhughes Yes but it also muzzles them when their work intersects with politics (like MSF in a war zone), and exerts private control.

Much better would be publicly funding them but taxing normally.

@dalias @bipartisan @jbhughes I'm OK with tax exemption for bona fide charities that have nothing to do with politics, but not churches.

Think more like MSF or your local volunteer fire department.

So the topic I want to talk about is taxation, and particularly, why it's "fair", even in a very conservative economic outlook, to have progressive taxation and for the wealthy to pay A LOT MORE in taxes. And I believe this is a conversation we can have with folks who are not okay with fascism but also wary of "leftist" (lol) Dem government.

I disagree, obviously: it's the ONLY fair tax. Everyone gives, everyone receives.

I owe you no duty to read your works, especially since I've already studied this topic in the past.

You assuming that I did not is a form of unwarranted disrespect.

"Tax exempt status for religious orgs violates thr establishment clause."

No, it does not. If you knew anything about Constitutional law, you'd realize that this was put in to address the problems of the Church of England.

This is why I don't follow your links: you have nothing to teach me. In fact, you're a dangerously incompetent DKE case.

I was just too polite to say that.
