@kaia I got 3 of these for 66euros with the lowest cpu it goes with (G3900T) and they are already very good. Cooling can come in different form the best being the heatpipe ones. You have 2 ram slots 1 sata connector 1 m2 slot 1 mini pcie card slot
@mangeurdenuage only thing that sucks is that I have to install Windows 11 on it, because the 82 year old man for whom I'm doing it needs Windows for tax software subscription.
@thatbrickster@kaia Except if they software required a form of DRM it might be an issue technically because of wine, but you never know, wine enforced a DRM online activation even tho I had the dvd of the game.
But legally as long as it's not circumvention of DRM (except in France) then there's no legal or contract binding clause in all the EULA that I have read that tells you that a software has to only run on X operating system, otherwise that would mean that even VMs could be afflicted by such degenerated copyright logic.
Speaking of that you could also run a VM via qemu/kvm instead of having a full windows install.
Kaia mentioned that hte man is 82yo even tho possible now that I think about it, I doubt someone who's 82yo has the brain elasticity to be able to even change from the MS UI to even MATE compact which is the closest UI you can have from windows. But you never know.
If you still migrate him to win11 then consider these
he gets sent a tax program for Windows 3.11/95/98/XP/7/8/10/11 on CD on a subscription together with a 300 page book. he does this for 25 years. his mouse is jittery as fuck because it's first generation wireless and the batteries are dead. some keys on his keyboard don't work. I'm not becoming his personal tech assistant :aurashrug:
@kaia I'm with you, that's why I was questioning the setup. Ignore the wizards for they want to project their ideals upon others, which doesn't work for an OAP who just wants to get on with it.
