"Because #AI the 4 day work week can come true".

This is bullshit. Recent studies show that we could feed and house and take care of literally _everybody_'s needs with everyone just working 30% of what we consider "full time" today. We literally could all work less than 2 days every week and be fine. Capitalism just doesn't allow for that conceptually. Don't fall for that bogus argument.

@LupinoArts @tante https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2452292924000493. 'With this approach, good lives can be achieved for all without requiring large increases in total global throughput and output. Provisioning decent living standards (DLS) for 8.5 billion people would require only 30% of current global resource and energy use, leaving a substantial surplus for additional consumption, public luxury, scientific advancement, and other social investments.'

N.b. resource use, not labour time though.

@tante It's already been said, but this goes beyond capitalism. The same entity controls the currency of almost every nation, and our leaders are incentivised to set policies that benefit the wealthy at the expense of everyone else. There is no way to break this self-reinforcing system without radical reform on a global scale. This is why the majority of people are losing purchasing power despite innovation and automation.

@tante AI isn’t being created to help people. It’s being leveraged by rich people in an attempt to stop paying workers.
