    poll of transfem people taking Progesterone regarding sex drive:

    https://octodon.social/@siege/110441708843689395

    testosterone is not the only hormone that influences sex drive - estrogen certainly does, theres no reason to assume progesterone doesnt except ongoing association that women dont naturally have sex drives / sex is a masculine urge.

    How quickly youll feel any effect definitely depends on how you're taking it. Orally you'll notice some effects within half an hour since its metabolites act as a sedative. However that will be nullified if you're taking a blocker like finasteride (that will prevent the prog from breaking down to allo).

      @sillyCoelophysis @siege

      re how quickly they have effect:

      Some effects of HRT are noticeable quickly (like Spironolactone's ) some just slide in subtly. I don't think it really matters because physical transition from HRT is a multi-year process.

      In that context, does it really matter if it was a day or a week or a month before you could see effects?

      @sillyCoelophysis @siege

      Depression makes sense but not because of the drug so much as because trans tend to feel emotionally better when they've got a hormone balance that better aligns with their inner self.

      Spironolactone alleviates a significant source of my body dysphoria which makes me feel better, which makes me less unhappy. but it's not because removing depression is a side-effect of spiro.

      @sillyCoelophysis @siege

      i am _extremely_ suspicious of those extra benefits.

      it has zero noticeable effect on my ADHD.

      It has done nothing to improve my sleep. if anything it might make it worse because upset stomach is a frequent side-effect (and thus why you're instructed to take it before bed)

      Increased sex drive makes ZERO sense because if it has ANY anti-androgen properties you'd (by definition) have LESS sex drive.

      can't comment on anxiety.
