     @sun AI + Crypto seems like the sort of thing you'd see at a startup and not really anywhere else. Have to figure the way to get hired at one of those is to know someone who's started one, have a considerable history in Crypto, or found your own.
     
     Assuming you've got some kind of idea (I would guess market prediction based on some kind of information specific to crypto), I haven't seen a huge number of interesting solutions on the market, with most of the (publicly discussed) approaches being very barebones. Sharing a quick prototype model's performance relative to the baselines out there (sentiment analysis on crypto forums plus the same LSTM model every single stock prediction tutorial uses) might attract interest.

     @sun In the past I've used temp (labour) agencies to get quick work and cash between regular jobs. Depending on the agency and work some will pay you cash at the end of the day, provide transportation to the job site and basic tools and clothing. A couple places got to know me as reliable and a good worker and would bump me to the head of job lists. Some companies use temp agency labour to filter for possible future full time employment at the company. I was asked twice.
     
     The work can be not great and is physical but it's not back breaking. And I liked the variety in the work.
     
     Another thing with your STEM background is tutoring high school and college level courses. For high school especially it's easy to bone up on math, physics and chemistry and there is always a demand. Easy to get cash payments as well.

     @sun This may be not the best thread to hog attention, but... when I was looking for a job in recent years, I wanted to be typecast no more. To do satellites or at least something space-related was my dream job. But here I am implementing S3 for the 4th time (tabled, OpenStack Swift, Ceph RGW, and now Weka nee MinIO). Am I turning into one of those guys who did COBOL until they dropped dead at their desk with a heart attack? Probably not a concern for someone doing crypto AI just yet, but it will be.
