   @wadewainio Furthermore, nowhere in this world is truly "safe" right now. Every country in the world is at most 2 elections from beginning their own purges of trans people, and fascism is on the rise in every western country. At least people staying here have family and friends to help them out as best they can, which may still be better than paying a human trafficker to get us to somewhere else.

     That is true. And it's tough to know what to say. On the one hand, I want to encourage people to stay brave, but I am tempted to encourage people to escape this country before it totally collapses into madness and brutality.

     Growing up not knowing that trans people like me existed didn't make me cis. It just made me traumatized.

     Yep. These people act like gay characters turn people gay and transgender characters turn people transgender, seemingly ignoring the fact that countless gay and transgender people existed way beyond any gay or transgender representation.

     A gay man will still become a gay man even if he watches nothing but straight media. He just might not be sure why he's so 'different' is all.

     @godpod Transgender characters in animated films also help to normalize conversations about gender identity, and conservatives genuinely fear movies can turn them and their families LGBT. Idiots.
