   I've got a pinned post if anyone wants to join us (it's free and pretty easy). We haven't worked out a voice chat to use, but we've ruled out two so far.      We're not on battle net we're using Median XL (mod overhaul with private servers). You won't be able to transfer characters over, and the builds are very different (8 unique skill trees per character etc) but you should come play with us sometime dude.

     Thanks for dissuading me from moving over to linux btw guys, I think it's easier to de-gay/bloat micropeen OS than deal with this shit. It only took me like 5 minutes to set up.

What I read last night, clean install is the first step.

     >install wine zenity curl unzip jq wmctrl fuse2 xdelta3 dosbox
     (fuse2 might be libfuse2, try that if you get an error)
     >Install d2LoD through lutris
     There's a version that includes meridian xl, but it always hung up for me, but it still gets you the base game + expansion pack
     >extract d2launcher & res folder to the game directory

     >run d2launcher and apply the meridian xl patch
     The game kind of runs at this point, but the rendering is jacked with part of the game cut off the display, thus
     >in d2launcher, >settings>edit configuration>change -3dfx under d2args to -ddraw
     I had the d2args line in there twice by default so I just deleted one.
     Apparently you need something called sigma2 to play online, not sure if that's standard or if that'll be an additional step. I got everything running and can play single player, but it hangs when trying to join an online match. Creating an online game works though, so who knows what's next.

     @ForbiddenDreamer Did you have any luck getting it to run on linux? I think it runs on macs and they're barely even computers.

     It definetly sounds better. I recently beated the expansion with a barbarian and i was kinda itching for more. But going through nightmare seems like a drag tbh

     Yeah, I have a bunch that Decayable found in the pinned thread. It'll only try to verify them if you use the official battle net servers, they work fine for single player or private servers
