     The entire point of the starship troopers government is that Earth almost destroyed itself due to idiotic civilian governments constantly declaring pointless wars against eachother, so veterans of every nation banded together to topple all civilian governments on the basis that "only people who went through the horror of war can understand how bad it is and therefore prevent it"
     
     It worked exceptionally well and wars between humans went down to 0. Humanity then proceeds to wage wars against aliens, massively increasing the wealth and resources of all mankind.

     @kaia I'm still confused why people think starship troopers is fascist. I know the OG novel is different, I know the movie director thinks so, but I am pretty sure he got some very basic tenets wrong.

     The two biggest, glaring, obvious ones being:

     1) 0, and I mean 0, zilch, nada, Eugenics. Remember: EVERYONE *NEEDS* to be allowed by law to do federal service if wanted. Blind, missing two legs, weelchair-bound, doesn't matter. They HAVE to find you something and you WILL get the rewards after.

     @kaia That alone is a *massive* difference between it and fascist states, which would well "get rid" of those "useless eaters".

     2) The whole freedom thing. Obviously, I don't agree with only veterans having voting power. It's bad©. But it doesn't make the country fascist. They literally state in the movie, there has never been more freedom then at any point in history.
