Are right wingers claiming Luigi Mangione as one of them, or are they trying to link him to the left? Every time there's a high profile shooting we have to pore over the perp's political affiliation

What we have right now is like an unholy lovechild of both. The worst of everything thanks to the ACA, which nobody realized was a massive payday for the insurance industry until it was too late.✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: likes this. -

@DailyStormerDigest Whatever the shooter believed believed, there's going to be some big battle about which sides ideals spurn people to violence. Apparently this guy had an Elon Musk book in his Amazon favorites lol.
And I don't know if this case is the typical kind that reignites the gun debate, both sides seem to be cheering it on with a minority on the right being the only naysayers

@PraxisOfEvil The Left hates medical insurance CEOs.
The new Right hates them too.
It's only the old Right which has sympathy for them.
I myself am in a weird spot on this, because while I have no love at all for the current medical system, I can't cheer on single payer either. A Mark Steyn piece back in my normie Right days put it well that we currently have the bad costs of a capitalist system with the delays of a socialist one. It seems to me we ought to be able to reach a system that incentivizes competition to improve care and prices, but that's never what we get.
The medical system discussion in general seems to lead to a thousand grievances but a dearth of solutions. -

@PraxisOfEvil Which right wingers?
The "gas the Jews" Right is unashamedly cheering this on and celebrating it.
I don't know what the MAGA guys are up to. I would presume they're trying to link the shooter to the Left, but that would just be a presumption. Maybe someone who actually pays attention to MAGA Twitter, or wherever they hang out nowadays, can fill us in. -

@DailyStormerDigest The MAGA guys seem to be countersignalling the shooting, or at least the dudes in the BAPsphere, there's a lot of instances of them blubbering about lefties cheering the shooting, why they took up the cause of a millionaire CEO is anyone's guess

@PraxisOfEvil I would certainly expect the MAGA guys to do "that's not who we are".
The BAPsphere, full disclosure, I had to look that one up. Seems like those guys would be closer to us ideologically than MAGA. But that's just a hunch.
I do note very well we are not yet hearing a peep about gun control, or at least I haven't seen it. Maybe the beast really is afraid this time. -

Simple solution. Make all scripts and labs over the counter.
The fact we've given doctors compete control of medication is just bizarre.
Imagine if you had to have a lawyers permission to execute a contract because it could "harm" you. Everyone would think that was wrong.
Even worse, in most states, you can't even get labs without an order, so you can't even measure substances in your own body without a doctor letting you. Imagine if you couldn't look at statutes or case law without a lawyers permission and he could limit what you could look at. Again, you'd think that's wrong.
You have more rights in a theoretical legal system than you do in your very real body.
If doctors were cut out as statutory middlemen, the price of care would drop. They'd fight for clients. Economics 101.
Instead the government wants you to fight over who pays, so you ignore the rights you should have in your own body. -

@Humpleupagus @PraxisOfEvil I'd be concerned about opioids being everywhere, but those being a thing at all is probably its own discussion.
Agreed generally, and especially for labs. You should be able to order your own labs, period, full stop, everywhere. -

And don't get me wrong. I'm not saying don't get advice where seeking it is reasonable. I just don't think it should be required.
As for opiates, that's a hard call. That's exactly where the modern prescription market started (see harrison act and related registration requirements). Everyone slid down the slippery slope of greed and profit from there, so now grandma pays 10000x the cost of production for her meds (including implied cost of coverage if on Medicare, doctors visits, etc.).
