     ? hot topic rn in switzerland. imo an exchange of culture cant be avoided, also it shouldnt be avoided. but everything has to be done with respect to the other culture i guess. otherwise its gonna be offensive

     death penalties shouldn't be a thing. imo rehabilitation is more promising. and in some cases, you don't really punish the criminal anyways with a death penalty. like, for example, religious motivated killers often see death as their way to the afterlife, so in the end, you even give them what they want.
     
     also, i think the death penalty doesn't make sense morally either. you, as the punisher, are in the end no way better than the person you punish.

     in recent dekades, they mostly failed in one way or the other. let alone that many of them where started by lies and assumptions, just for gaining control over resources. waste of manpower imo

     this is an interesting one. i think, if we ever are able to get climate change in control, space colonisation is gonna happen. the question is in what way and for which reasons. i guess corpos might just gonna expand their resource hungry game, which wont be good. i mean, we as a species should probably first learn, how to be resourcefull, otherwise its gonna end in a huge mess (see earth).
     imagining living on other planets is really thrilling tho.

     ehehe, well.. as a swiss person, this is kinda a weird topic. it sucks to be in bilateral contracts with the EU without having any say in the EU. but becoming a member of the EU has been a debate for many many many times in switzerland, and everytime the majority didn't want to enter the EU.
     
     i personally think that switzerland could profit to be a member of the EU, i mean, it doesn't mean to have to change to € afaik. but we would at least have a say in the EU parliment. with the state now, we don't really have a say and kinda have to applies some rules by the EU regardless.
     
     what boggles my mind tho is that the far right party here in switzerland even attacks those bilateral contract. they think we could go on as now if we don't have them, which is a lie. we are dependend on import and export trading with the EU and yeeting those contracts would mean that we lose a substential amount of import export trading because it getting too expensive

     one of the examples of the destructive nature humans have. and probably one of the issues that might be very hard to solve (like most stuff when it comes to human to ecosystem interaction)

     free speech is important, especially here in switzerland, where every citizien is part of the political process. constructive discussions can only really happen, if there is free speech.
     
     buuut, free speech does have its limits. especially when it comes to hate speech and stuff, which should be illegal.
     
     civilized discussions need some form of free speech, but also respect towards each other, even on dissagreement.
     
     also btw, using 'you impeed my free speech' as an argument has become quite wide spreaded. funly enough, i see people using it most loudly, who actually do censor other opinions (covidiots for example)
     
     and before anyone screams at me: no, i'm not a free speech advocate. but i value having interesting discussions to extend my knowledge and my view on things
