     If something was always shit at its core but you couldn’t tell because you were busy nibbling at its sweet crust, it doesn’t mean it enshittified when you finally got to the centre, it means it was always a shit soufflé.

     @joachim @aral @GreenSkyOverMe no, it is all honey at first, but they design it so that they can replace the honey with shit after lusers get hooked. what we have to watch out for to avoid it is not the shit itself (that's too late), but potential for enhittifiability, i.e., whether or not we can reject undesirable changes from under us. see https://www.fsfla.org/~lxoliva/#Unshittify

     @lxo @joachim @aral All examples I can think of really required proprietary software from the start, so no honey - although I guess many people won't notice the difference between honey and honey-tasting substitute.

     yes. you seem to take "honey" as analogy for good, rather than to bait.
     
     bear in mind that, to a lot of people, honey is a powerful laxative :-)
