Yes, I still stand by that, I think we just hit a bit of a speed bump.
To get back on the track, we have to double down on what makes the fediverse great: it's grassroots, it's DIY, it works because of all the effort we all put in.
So consider this a reminder to donate to your server admins and to the developers of your platform.

@stefan Unfortunately I've donated to mastodon for over a year and I feel it's been wasted. I still don't have sufficient moderation tools that any sane system of this size would already have. The fact that everything needs to be seen to be moderated is quite wild.
Even an automated reporting system based on keywords that I can manually review would do better than the current system.
There could be offensive content on my instance right now and I wouldn't know about it, simply because I don't see it with my own eyes.😩

@BeAware Maybe you'll find that Mastodon no longer aligns with your vision of the future of the fediverse. And that's fine, there's plenty of other platforms worth supporting, and the great thing is that all the developers often inspire each other's work.

@BeAware Yes, a good question is *where* to put the money. I am still being mostly optimistic about Mastodon being able to focus on the right things. I know they received funding for quote boosts, and part of that will be features around safety, who can quote you, etc, and I'm pretty excited about that.

@BeAware @stefan I ran 3 servers and this scared me - new users posting things like CP. You make a leap of faith allowing signups and new users alone - much less what you might relay and cache on your own server.
