@Dianora@CStamp@MartinGuay Sadly, there is a rule in Canadian legal process that "pleading the 5th" is considered a valid invocation of your right against self-incrimination. Which tells you that Canadian courts are sick of this shit, but also reasonable.
@CStamp@MartinGuay One of those Klown Konvoys tried to claim "The fifth" the judge promptly asked "What's that?" (Something like that anyway) Ignorance of Canadian law.
@Dianora@MartinGuay They were using US rightwing terminology and sound bites. They were quoting American law and slogans. Canadians using "patriot" might as well be wearing a red hat. :(
@Dianora@MartinGuay I read the article after article about the locals being intimidated and harassed, businesses having to close, I can well imagine. They were terrorists and thugs and you folk were so let down by the cops. I'm glad you get to have some sort of satisfaction.
@silverwizard@MartinGuay@Dianora "..if you’re subpoenaed to court in Canada, you can’t plead the fifth. What you can do though, is you can invoke sections 13 of our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and section 5(2), of the Canada Evidence Act."
