"Something to ponder: The yearly cost of religious tax exemptions: $71,000,000,000.
If the church paid taxes, everyone else would only have to 3% taxes.
TAX THE CHURCHES."

@grrlscientist I always hear, “If we pay taxes, our good works will suffer!” and I always tell them they can write off good works and expenditures just like the rest of us. And frankly, I’ve not seen a ton of good work coming from churches these days anyway…
@obscurestar @grrlscientist I’m with you. Organized religion is gross. Even so, there are food shelves and whatnot in my area. By and large, not much for good works.
@adammoe2022 @grrlscientist What good works?
Forcing people in 3rd world nations to chose between starvation and indoctrination into an anti-science anti-birth control cult is not 'good works' it's extortion.
Many of the religious homeless shelters refuse LGBT people because they'd rather anyone who disagree with them die of exposure.
Churches do not DO good works. They always want something.
