@cine i need to sit down and work on my mud :ablobcatbongo:
i have to pick between champions and cities without number still, for rules. but it is a little weird because i do not want the game to just be combat grind 24/7. i'm not yet sure how to deal with this.
there was once a game called SEED which also tried this.

@icedquinn farm things that can be farmed solo and ignore the rest of the game :watayes:
At least that's what I used to do. I don't mmo anymore, but if I did, that's still what I'd do. Now I farm irl... some things don't change.

@cine no not really. there's only a couple that are really notable (and also alive) but even those i kinda don't get along with super well

@icedquinn Any interesting MUDs out there? I've never played one, I only know they exist, so all of it is alien to me.

@grips @icedquinn Based market manipulator dad fr. And yes, depending on the thought put into it the market system can be either boring or very exciting. I never played WoW, but TESO has a pretty good system. The other two mmos' that I played extensively weren't as good, they were limited to a central auction house and that's it.
Idk about alliances, the guilds I joined were mostly guilds focused on farming and crafting, which was what I played for, but not particularly exciting to most, I bet.

@cine @grips kovarex (Factorio guy) wants to base his next game on world of warcraft 🤮
They do seem to only be fun if you are allowed friends. I had people last night just telling me to "idk just cope with grind" and how great their guild was just join a good guild bro (was not an invitation)
I just sort of play a little while and leave when the novelty wears off.
I've never been in a "nice" guild. Mostly they were just tryhards that are just like idk fuck off newb and let us know when you hit max level cause we're not interested in anything but endgame minmaxing

@cine @icedquinn yeah, dad had a WoW phase a few years ago and the way he talked to me about it, trading and alliances surely were the most fun part. apparently he had a hand in market manipulation too, although half the concepts he talked about went over my head

@grips @icedquinn Indeed. So I went mainly for aesthetics and maybe a bit of lore since I played them all the same way. Also the market part can be interesting.

@grips @icedquinn That last one is only achievable on mmos since trading with the computer is... meh. I was no big into it, though. I've seen the lenghts ppl go for in trading in mmos and it's nuts. If I were to do that I'd do it irl instead tbh.

@cine @icedquinn >farm things that can be farmed solo and ignore the rest of the game
sounds like a singleplayer RPG
