@arcana@7666@djsumdog I didn't get into the weeds but it's not actually even universal that it was the blood sacrifice component of Jesus' action that saved Mankind. It's poetic and a logical extrapolation from Jewish temple sacrifices though, but some people think the entire performance of Jesus' life culminating in His blameless self-sacrifice is where the salvation came from.
@sun@arcana@7666@djsumdog abuse, violence and murder are release valves for human social dynamics, stress builds up, people follow their evil impulses and don’t wanna admit their wrongdoing, and someone or something is scapegoated. That system provides no improvement to man. And that’s the system non-Christians still follow today.
By being the perfect human, am then being abused in the most unfair way possible and then coming back to life, he made it impossible for men to hide behind lies and scapegoat him. He exposed them.
We were forced to confront our sin, he gave us the opportunity to improve.
He also provided an example for those of us that want to do good but are grinded out of Faith by the evil world. Because the world is just too much for any man, that’s why he had to come and interject for a moment.
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’

I don't think this is true. Catharsis, venting your anger (like in The Purge type movies) doesn't make people calm down. There are numerous studies where people are riled up and put in a room with breakable stuff. You give half a baseball bat and tell them to go to town, and the other half you get to sit quietly. The ones allowed to "release" are even more angry after, where the ones who sit quietly are calmer and more rational afterwards.

To some extent, Christians who embrace this school of thought (turn the other cheek) and the Buddhists are both right about calming yourself down is better for you and everyone around you rather than rage an anger.
To the credit of Christianity, the Jesus story we know only has him enraged when harm and injustice is caused to others, and rarely himself.
@djsumdog@7666@arcana@asa > the Jesus story we know only has him enraged when harm and injustice is caused to others, and rarely himself.
This is a frequently misrepresented story, the only time Jesus lost his shit was when merchants were desecrating His Father's house. Sometimes prog pastors try to frame it as the exploitative business relationship to the poor that Jesus was mad about, explanation which requires some understanding of the time period but if u trust me I say it's bullshit, it's literally just that the offering merchants which were always numerous outside the temple started actually encroaching inside the temple and selling there. an angle of this which is sometimes overlooked is, this would have required consent from the cohen which is another indictment of the jewish rulership
