@sickburnbro progressives are not really systematic thinkers, they’re unironically just conspiracy theorists. white supremacy, the patriarchy, heteronormativity, all their explanations for the problems with society are that whites/men/straights were secretly colluding to keep browns/women/gays from succeeding for thousands of years. and when their dumb theories fall apart in the face of reality they come up with the most insane ass pulls, either that everything in the past was ACTUALLY shittier despite everyone over the age of 25 remembering that that’s not true, or claiming that somehow despite the “oppressed” groups having more power and control than ever, the straight white men are secretly sabotaging everything to make it seem worse than when they were in charge. it’s literally the same mindset of the mudflood people looking for clues about Tartaria.
@jimmybuffettfanaccount for sure - being a systematic thinker, to me, means thinking about how to *design and implement* systems - not just "oh we need a system to fix this, can't make a personal change to do anything!"
This is why "wreckers" remains a powerful own - it's the history of the same bullshit.
@jimmybuffettfanaccount I think @sickburnbro is very spot on, you just got to realize that the systematic thinking here has a specific purpose, and the "personal responsibility" part is something that made it click for me.
Everything is so fake and gay is because the ultimate goal of the system is to reinforce the now current status quo, similar to how party members in Soviet Union were so devoted to the "Party" - take perpetual losers and dregs, give them power, and they will defend that party with everything they have. Even if the whole system is wrong, their own personal power and status depends on the system continuing on.
You look at the parallel today, and it's a bit different flavor of the same; There's a whole wide world hustling and bustling, and there's this party that gives you an "easy" out - you don't have to fail anymore, it's not your fault, it's someone else's. Strong White Men do a lot of stuff, they must be holding you back, it's not you. Just agree with this, and you will get comfort and power (soft power is still power) together with the rest of the group.
This party is parasitic in nature - as it grows and gains more hard power, the host (i.e., the productive society) starts to buckle; You end up with the usual leftist purity spiral and an ever expanding party that is both strangling the host AND requiring more resources at the same time; You now have a lot of people that depend on the party and you can't just "change" the foundation of it. The whole system springs up to continue the initial "It's not your fault" with more elaborate blames, and the more it grows, the stronger the boogeyman must be made, the more systems implemented to combat the -isms that are the cause of all of the problems to keep the gravy train running.
To some bugman academic, the party IS life. He has to sincerely believe that the white man caused X and Y, because the alternative is complete anathema to their living. What the fuck is a gender studies PHD gonna do in mad max world? He already invested too much. So he will prod on, trying to jockey up in this pity party.
Even if he had a smidge of realization of what needs to be done... why would he choose to do some hard labor (that would be required of him as a part of fixing what's wrong now) if he can just continue living a comfortable life as everything crumbles around him? <insert Dig the Fucking Hole meme here>. Even if it goes far enough, he can sit huddling over a little fire with his little circlejerk and blame someone for "not working hard enough to keep electricity running" - after all, it wasn't his responsibility.
I wonder if it would be possible to hack and replace this foundation (the aversion to personal responsibility) with something else to force current systems to reshape in a faster way, but this poast got too wordy already.
@jimmybuffettfanaccount@sickburnbro Actually, having hit post... What if this whole "muh brown people are held down" is simply... trying to shift responsibility for maintaining White Civilization away from themselves? "I don't want to do this myself, so my contribution will be to make sure they can do this - this way, nobody can ever make me do the things" If that's part of the subconcious driving factor, that's just funny.
@sickburnbro@amphidamant@jimmybuffettfanaccount if you want to see real world examples, black school districts are a fascinating petri dish. Everything since No Child Left Behind (another great demagogue) has been exactly what you described. Funding is dependant on test scores; the worse the score, the more funding you get. The teachers/admin need graduating students to read at a 6th grade level so they can maintain their standard of living. More money funneled into niggers while White areas have higher property taxes to fund their school levies. Two lib teachers I know, completely separate from each other, described the same shit since they taught in different school districts. Both were scolded for trying to get the classes interested in learning. Both left those districts because of it.
@sickburnbro@Mamako@amphidamant@jimmybuffettfanaccount I know they lowered standards for getting a diploma or GED. I do not know if you need to pass standardized testing to graduate or just pass the minimum class requirements where there's a lot of fudge factor.
@sickburnbro@EnnaComa@Mamako@amphidamant@jimmybuffettfanaccount That's because the K-12 School Industrial Complex is a key part of the Democrat's system, from the patronage that bulks up these low performing schools (which also have an impossible mission with the restraints on allowed discipline), to the political power they return to the party. They can also be lazy, see Oakland, California discarding a system that worked but had boring hard work as is required anyway.
Reading is something worth focusing on. What happens when your ruling trash decides they don't want most of the population to learn how to read (in an era where radio and movies could supplant that as a means of communications including propaganda)?
You can't understand any of this without knowing the systematic degradation of US public school teaching quality, for which the 1930 publication of the first Dick and Jane and Their Running Dog Spot basal reader is a useful marker. This was called out very strongly in the mid-1950s and it's still being fought over.
Severe to the point of making K-12 potentially worthless thought lowering of standards also happened no later than the 1950s, Heinlein wrote a lot about this. That plus the Supreme Court outlawing basic intelligence and the like testing for jobs is one reason college became so big, it became the last resort signal (for a while, at least).
