With the recent uptick in tech activity on Bluesky, I've decided that I will start posting there in addition to my current locations. I've also put together my general thoughts on the state of social media, and how I'm using it, now that it's two years since The Muskover.

esmevane, sorry (ironchamber@mastodon.esmevane.com)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 03:04:01 JST esmevane, sorry @evan @mfowler There's some kinks in the implementation (it only recognizes follows per-network) but it is mostly solid for an early protocol bridge. I repost some of my stuff on bsky here and there.

Evan Prodromou (evan@cosocial.ca)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 08:54:59 JST Evan Prodromou @tassoman @mfowler I don't know if you're talking about the Bridgy Fed bridge or Bluesky. I don't have an answer to either. I don't get spam from that direction.

Tassoman (tassoman@orwell.fun)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 08:55:00 JST Tassoman Do you have information about they solved their problems with spamming? Even if I've never followed anyone, even if I didn't posted anything, bots found my account and tried to auto follow anyway. Didn't linked anywhere, also.
I was sure about it because was my 1 time test, and it failed. #bsky -

Alexandra Samuel (awsamuel@cosocial.ca)'s status on Monday, 18-Nov-2024 00:25:02 JST Alexandra Samuel @evan Found your thread with @mfowler while looking for your wisdom on Bridgy vs Bridgy Fed. I'm going to use my wordpress site as my hub and even though I grasp the difference between the two forms of bridgy I can't figure out which one will feel more organic to the people I interact with on Bsky and Masto.

Evan Prodromou (evan@cosocial.ca)'s status on Monday, 18-Nov-2024 04:15:48 JST Evan Prodromou @awsamuel @mfowler I haven't tried using the Bridge from WordPress. You have to follow a particular account on the bridge to signal your willingness to be followed there. I think you need to install some extra plugins to make it possible to follow someone remotely. @pfefferle @snarfed.org am I way off here?

Alexandra Samuel (awsamuel@cosocial.ca)'s status on Monday, 18-Nov-2024 04:50:28 JST Alexandra Samuel @evan @mfowler @pfefferle @snarfed.org Yep I installed a half-dozen plugins but there was a lot more troubleshooting ahead and I couldn't see a route to Threads support anyhow. Love the indieweb vibe but I'm super vulnerable to tech distractions so a solution that just works is highly preferable to a better solution that will tempt me into tech nerdery.
