@evan @mfowler @pfefferle @snarfed.org Yep I installed a half-dozen plugins but there was a lot more troubleshooting ahead and I couldn't see a route to Threads support anyhow. Love the indieweb vibe but I'm super vulnerable to tech distractions so a solution that just works is highly preferable to a better solution that will tempt me into tech nerdery.

Alexandra Samuel (awsamuel@cosocial.ca)'s status on Monday, 18-Nov-2024 04:45:00 JST Alexandra Samuel @evan absolutely! And in fact it feels like that's what Jetpack Social is doing -- making it easier. But is there a reason to use indieweb instead? That's what left me feeling defeated. Or at least, disinclined to fall down a fourth-order rabbithole.

Alexandra Samuel (awsamuel@cosocial.ca)'s status on Monday, 18-Nov-2024 04:42:43 JST Alexandra Samuel A friend suggested Indieweb as an alternative to Jetpack Social but after playing around a bit with Indieweb plugins + Bridgy, I’m struck by the high barriers to entry. If we want people to embrace a decentralized web where you can interact with multiple networks from your own instance, it needs to be much easier to get up & running.

I'm going to use my wordpress site as my hub and even though I grasp the difference between the two forms of bridgy I can't figure out which one will feel more organic to the people I interact with on Bsky and Masto.
