Lots of talk about white people enabling Trump, but very little talk about the Hispanic community joining them this time.
Fedi is cute when it's too scared to say something out loud.

@santiago @sofiav @thomholwerda how do you feel the difference between being an (native??) immigrant in Switzerland and being one in Brazil?
@santiago @thomholwerda "we're the good ones who did everything right to come here and now we're shutting the doors behind us" (never mind that they probably didn't "do everything right" and even if they did, immigration laws change constantly, are deliberately confusing, and are much easier to follow if you're well-off to begin with)
@sofiav @thomholwerda I was born as a second generation immigrant (yes it’s possible in Switzerland). I had cousins who arrived there adults from Spain — had a thick accent — and you wouldn’t believe the shit they’d say about other immigrants stealing THEIR job 🙄
@thomholwerda Every single generation of immigrants I saw in my birth country (Switzerland) had its share of people shitting on the next wave. “The others aren’t honestly here to work, they’re criminals: the proof is they are as broke as my mom was.”.
It’s part of the process of integration: try to be just as rotten as the worst people of the country you joined and maybe they will treat you as one of them (hint: they won’t).
@santiago @sofiav interessante
@usuario @sofiav @thomholwerda It’s pretty much the reverse sensation in terms of stereotypes considering I was the poor in one side and the rich one over here.
Though I heard over here that French (and therefore I guess French speaking ?) people have the reputation of stinking. *That* is in line with what I heard as a child being a broke immigrant but that was for being Spanish (a.k.a. the people who cleaned houses).
Stinking is my destiny 🤷🏻♂️
