     @schratze side note: my favorite shark book is “Sharks Don’t Sink; Adventures of a Rogue Shark Scientist” by Jasmine Graham, a book about the intersection of shark science and social justice.

     @schratze Some or all sharks give life births and some shark babies eat each other in the womb and some sharks (I think sand sharks) have two wombs so that two babies will survive

     @schratze Sharks are so traumatized when they are handled by people out of water that sometimes they never recover afterwards and have “failure to thrive” disease and death. It is unethical to take a selfie with a shark before throwing it back in the water— too traumatic for them.

     Although sharks are ancient, one part of their immune system has been so successful that it is persisted and has passed down the line to humans. Think of it as the crude, sledgehammer part.

     @schratze Sharks can remember things they have been trained to do long after not doing it— like 3 months or more. Just for reference, trained service dogs forget their skills after about 6 months of not using them.

     @GreenSkyOverMe @schratze just to add to that: there are some shark species that do lay eggs, e.g. cat sharks, and their eggs look like black rectangular ravioli with strings on all four corners to attach to sea weed and stuff
