I am currently in a sushi restaurant run by one man, with no other employees, and where your only options* for ordering are "regular order", "large order" and "extra large order". He just decides what you will eat. I am *so excited*.
* Although also, and this is why we came here, if you come in and say you are vegetarian he asks "egg"? and makes you vegetarian or vegan sushi depending on what you say. You also in this case do you guide exactly what you get.

@Bigshellevent we are in a small town that decided to fight declining tourism by creating a series of art installations in fields outside town. The entire town seems to be feral artists and there is just art everywhere. This place rules

The owner/cook is also an avid boomerang enthusiast. The "where are the vegetarian friendly restaurants?" app we have been using review mentioned this, which seemed odd, but when we got here there was an impressive collection of boomerangs on the wall and there was a whole page in the menu* with information about boomerangs.
* One page listing the sizes, a second page listing the pages in English, and many many pages of deeply interesting alcohol options

Okay so left, my meal. It probably looks good but pretty normal for food sushi. I assure you, as someone who has eaten a lot of sushi, it was truly exceptional.
But right, here's what the people in our group who identified as lacto-ovo vegetarians got. This actually is *much* more interesting, visually!! It also looks delicious!! I kinda wanted to eat the fried tofu (photo by @spookysquid, who says the roll, egg & candied walnut wrapped in torch-seared cabbage, was the highlight)
