Folks, it's right there in the numbers:

Trump is on 72M votes, with 3 states still counting. He is exactly who he was last time, when Joe Biden beat him running on "end the forever wars, reign in police violence, dismantled the migrant carceral complex, and punish Nazis."

Harris otoh will be lucky to finish with 70M votes, after running on "National Security, we'll bomb whoever we want, Russia, we love cops, fascist immigration policies, Dick Cheney likes me" just like Hillary.

All your theories that start with "people were tricked by Trump" or "it's about personalities" are fucking hogwash.

Biden ran significantly left of both the candidates who lost to Trump, turned out a record 81 million voters in a coalition that included young people, Black people, Muslim Americans, and folks from migrant backgrounds. The other two lost HUGE CHUNKS of those coalitions to chase suburban fascist voters.

Trump didn't create new voters; triangulation and shitlibbery blew it.

Sixteen million people didn't switch sides. They sat out precisely because Kamala and the actual Biden administration didn't dance with who brought them there.

Someone tried to get me riled up last night by opining that it was THE FREAKIN MEDIA that turned people to vote against Copmala & the Democrats, I was being way too hard on & should have empathy for those poor Democrats suffering from their own myopia, & I should work more towards compromising with those liberals who helped throw us over the cliff.

      Nope.

The template was set in 2020. It failed. If you couldn't see that it would fail worse yesterday, than that's on you.

      • Misuse Case

@MisuseCase I literally have no data to test this against because I have never seen a woman run for President to the left of George W. Bush.

That having been said, assuming I take what you say at face value, that simply indicates that she should have run LEFT OF BIDEN to generate even MORE popular support as a way of offsetting the misogyny.

So I don't think it disproves anything I said.

@AnarchoNinaWrites I think misogynoir can’t be discounted as a factor, though. There are a substantial number of people in this country who would set themselves on fire rather than vote for a woman, *any* woman, to be president.

@fishidwardrobe Couldn't have hurt; but that's still not excuse for running a campaign for fascists, donors, and NatSex ghouls in "the most important election in American history."

Joe's no friend of mine. But Harris and her campaign coulda chosen to repudiate him and they didn't; so I guess he's a friend of hers. Nobody put a gun to her head.

@AnarchoNinaWrites It's not my place to criticise Biden, but perhaps Harris would have done better if he had managed to actually do some of that. (Maybe not, though.)
