Also another thing I hate about Gnome and GTK3 and GTK4 in general are CSD (Client Side Decoration) they behave so badly with so many Window Managers and when the compositing is turned off it shows ugly borders unless it is turned off from the GTK config file or something in the home directory. Have you ever seen QT apps or wxWidgets apps behaving this way? no they don't as they are designed to be cross-platform.. Its only the GTK3 and GTK4 apps which behave this way.
@RL_Dane@PhenomX6@safiuddinkhan That's why corporations should be illegal. Because nothing stops your boss from saying "Not that we're telling you to target RMS or anything, but if any of you show your loyalty to the company by doing that, there might be a nice promotion waiting for you. We'll just say it's b/c you're a 'team player' and not that we're paying you to sabatoge free software."
I don't know much about corporate-sponsored "woke" activists (I loathe that term), but I know from personal experience that ibm is a worthless company run by soulless carbon-based automatons.
Claiming that the person who "whistleblew" RMS was doing so at the behest at their employer just because they worked at a company without any actual evidence is... not impressive.
The biggest thing that has raped and destroyed FOSS in the past few years and one of the reasons for all of this shit has been corporations. There's been a pattern where the woke activists are just their tool for doing so and taking out anyone who might be inconvenient (the roastie who canceled RMS worked for Salesforce), because the minute they get any ideas they're out of the company and none of them are going to do what Eich (or any of the 80s/90s nerds) did and start their own company. They're perfect cattle incapable of doing anything that the state doesn't tell them to do and can't even run a coffee shop.
Also if you work at these corporations you have to follow your bosses orders no matter how comically insane they are or else you're going back to McDonald's. https://www.phoronix.com/news/IBM-Employee-100p-Time
This is what happens to - Hobby - Software - Government - Nations - Towns - Groups when it lacks moral stance, protectionism and the balls to reject the deliberate subversion and take over
@EdBoatConnoisseur@MischievousTomato@PhenomX6@RL_Dane@bronze@safiuddinkhan why invest our brainpower on going to Mars or solving micropastics when we could instead change wow everything that works WORK just for the sake of changing the world and force people to refactor their code and tools or even reprogram because they wanted to remove themes. I think a gtk and gnome forks are needed to drive these arrogant bastards into oblivion.
@bronze@EdBoatConnoisseur@MischievousTomato@PhenomX6@RL_Dane@safiuddinkhan I used to like gnome 2, specially back then when I used fedora. However gnome 3 was a total piece of shit. Laggy, less features, nonsensical. Soydevs never heard of "if ain't brpke don't fox it" they have innooovate because I am an innovatooooooor I have to force my gay way of doing this upon others just likeI force my homosexuality and AIDS.
@EdBoatConnoisseur@PhenomX6@RL_Dane@bronze@safiuddinkhan and now that im not gay: no other DE is usable compared to gnome mate and xfce? ugly and essentially the 3rd-world of DEs kde? pretty in screenshots, astoundingly buggy
@MischievousTomato@PhenomX6@RL_Dane@safiuddinkhan@EdBoatConnoisseur ever notice how all gnome users / shills have homosexual tendencies? They're all into traps or twinks or they wanna be the twink or trap or all of the above. Tells me all I need to know about guhnome tbh.
@PhenomX6@RL_Dane@safiuddinkhan You can see that the corporate woke push started right after the common folk got into the whole occupy wall street movement, they know they are in positions of power where they can manipulate and subvert culture to their advantage, but they won’t be able to survive a counter from the commoners in enough numbers, that is why all acts of opposition are harshly attacked hopefully before they can gain momentum.
You can see that in how both the goverment and corporations attack small bussines, like how recently farmers in the US were forbidden from selling directly to consumers in their own property.
When you look at software just a quick read on how gnome developers react to people forking their stuff and fixing it in opposition to their rulings, a big example is that gnome does hate theming and they openly denounce distributions that patch out every possible counter to themeing like if they were satan themselves and actively destroying the gnome proyect.
@RL_Dane@safiuddinkhan The "woke types" who work for corporations tend to really, really, shit on the GPL. Why? The corporation does too because they have to release code, and none of them want to end up like Cisco did.
@MischievousTomato@EdBoatConnoisseur@PhenomX6@RL_Dane@safiuddinkhan as for mate and xfce? they're tried to the hip with gnome and will inevitably follow whatever gnome pushes into GTK3, or GTK4. At least the TDE guys had the balls to fork QT3 to keep the KDE3 experience alive while the mate devs dance around trying to keep the GNOME 2 experience with the now uglified GTK3 and GTK4. They'd rather port their software over to that crap than just fork and freeze GTK2.
@EdBoatConnoisseur@PhenomX6@RL_Dane@safiuddinkhan noooo you can't develop software and give users what they need/want, you have to adhere to our VISION and use our AESTHETICS! Seriously, not even Microsoft cares how ugly you male your winform applications and how you can add, you are free to add low quality early to mid 90's icons to your program. Software is primarily a tool and although programming is an art, by using tools of art made by other developers does not imply ypu create your art for the sake of theirs. If they don't like it they can develop apple like menus and ui widgets that serve no purpose.
@basadeskaiser@PhenomX6@RL_Dane@safiuddinkhan Wanna have a good laught? there is a campaign of gnome app devs that beg for their apps to not be themed, good for them only 2 to 3 apps there are actully useful (pitivi, bottles and maybe geary)
