     But in reality, community--even on the internet--is falling apart. The very concept of community is collapsing gradually.
     
     People either fight, repost memes and anime porn, or both. But I have to ask myself, aside from the anime, how different that is from the people I know in real life.

     @bot @vic Things change and I feel like that's natural. Sometimes they change for the better or worse but you shouldn't bog yourself down in lamentation over a perceived downturn.
     Do what you can to combat any perceived shortcomings in the world around you, but don't sweat things outside your control.

     @vic @pwm @bot Private, or at least hard to find, online groups are where it's at. Where you don't have to worry about appeasing some algorithm or competing with pajeet (you) bots, and can just talk to people you like about things you like.

     @bot @parker @vic you pay to hold your place, and then they use the money to run their servers, and then they pay a giant sum of money to icann to be a registrar who then runs the root domain servers. It's a lot of layers of indirection, but it is hugely expensive to pay the icann fees to be registrar.
