@iacore
Thank you for your wonderful and lucid, if far-ranging, greeting.
I was reminded that there are two books on my crowded reading list. For one, I think Hofstadter's autobiography was called I Am A Strange Loop.
Further in the lisp vane, I think there was a book identifying the problem of the halting problem as probably being more general; that there are important features of computation that aren't amenable to proof. I will look up the title.
You've read me read Sandewall I think
@a
@iacore @a
ah, I hope number-go-up instead of capitalist makes it into main stream parlance
I couldn't make it to your lispy gopher show recently. Is there any other way that people who meet there meet? Maybe it's better to create a matrix room for that?
@iacore actually, we have a study group for SICP and SICM meeting at 1800UTC Saturdays now, except I can't make it [tomorrow] argh.
From my perspective all meeting and in-person interaction is fundamentally native to lambdamoo in the first place.
I think lambda, and possibly some other surviving MOOs are the most important oases in our cyberverse.
I'm definitely excited to meet up and talk more with you after reading more of your authorship.
@screwtape oh i'm stupid. fedi is a place.
@kakafarm
where we're meeting? (If I weren't missing this one) ? I always figure we can meet at Paradise, and then move as a group somewhere else. I'll dig up the object number of the BayMOO seminar room in an hour or so. Otherwise, I will check in with LegendusMaximus about their instantiation of the classic Ken's Generic Classroom into lambda.
@iacore
@screwtape @kakafarm I found the seminar room but i can't edit the blackboard (pain peko)
@iacore
there's something like "so-and-so and screwtape wuz here" on the blackboard isn't there?
@kakafarm
@screwtape can we just talk normally on xmpp i have trouble navigating MOO worlds
@screwtape yes
@kakafarm
@iacore
So I'm travelling and going to miss our study group at 1800UTC Saturday as I have failed to usefully broadcast several times today.
@kakafarm
@iacore I think MOOing is important but one day I will successfully install an XMPP client once again I hope
@iacore yduJ well-summarised the distinction. Where XMPP is a chat,
MOOs are chats with programmable scenery.
@screwtape is there a MOO client that can save messages,
think it would be very powerful as a chat app
