@Jonathanglick@harrymccracken It also sets up a dangerous precedent where editorial decisions get compromised and ownership having the ultimate final say on what stories will and won't get published (as I have suspected for years and I'm now vindicated despite some people bashed/blocked me for it in the past).
@obrien_kat@Jonathanglick@harrymccracken I always believe that editorial groups and not ownership should have the final say on what to hire, publish stories, etc so I agree there.
Sadly in the last 2-3 years that has not happened if you consider that so many important information and stories got buried or unpublished for years so writers can sell books for example.
@joeo10@Jonathanglick@harrymccracken I will inject one caveat there - not all owners get involved in content decisions. Some definitely do, but others leave it to their teams. There still is influence in who they hire, though even there, some delegate to an independent board.
