I don't believe he's going to do this - but if he wins and does, I will absolutely be willing to eat crow for something that improves my life.

@sickburnbro it'll be contested if he does (the act has only been invoked during wartime) and that might give him the confidence to actually go through with it. if he tries, and then recants before it gets taken to SCOTUS, he looks like he's a "mature statesman" and meanwhile he gets to toss the nationalists a bone

@GaryBussy For sure, there is certainly a whole potential game that could be played with the wrestling over power. But even invoking it would be enough to deeply scare a lot of invaders and more importantly their criminal conspirators who are citizens.

@eee in the past people were concerned with foreign entanglements for a reason.

@sickburnbro Even if it does happen we will still be over our heads with legal immigrants. But, yes, there will be a lot of crow eating if it does.

@stoner713 For sure but the important question that needs to be asked is "who do we let in the country" needs to be asked, and right now the answer is either "everyone!" or "uhh, whatever is legal! ( import illegals in the background)"

@GaryBussy @sickburnbro You bring up a good point though. Witness what has been done to Trump's legal team after he left office and it's clear that the regime will go after any and all Trump admin officials once the Trumpnistas leave office. The solution, is clear. At some Trump may well be forced to radically purge the regime no matter how much he doesn't want to.

@EvilSandmich @GaryBussy with the whole Rudy Giuliani thing that's again painted very vibrantly.
The interesting thing is the whole game theory before was "let people on the other team get away with some stuff so they don't come after you"
But now the democrats have severely broken that rule, so it's going to be interesting. Unless he had staffing that was 60%+ "GOP" types that were trying to push "we need to be generous to them, so they'll be generous to us!" it's not going to turn out that way.

@eee that's part of what would be interesting about merely invoking this. It would make all those that view themselves as foreigners EXTREMELY nervous.
But ultimately this is where the world is going.

@HonkHonkBoom I mean I'm not asking for a fucking pony here. He's not actually promising that.
As people are saying more and more - they just want a politician that doesn't promise shit they can't get done.
The irony is I think the less you trust politicians to get stuff done for you and expect to do it yourself the more they will stick to what they can do.
