@MummaBear His channel is really interesting. Used to be mainly about guitar playing but he has done a lot of vocal analysis lately. Have not followed it much lately. But he is good. And serious.
The worst part is that AI can probably produce some melodies that are almost ok. Pair that up with mediocre singers with automatic pitch and put more effort into the technology and sound technique than the actual talent and we will get mediocre music that almost sounds like a hit.
The risk is that real musicians might get drowned out in a river full of mass produced garbage.
Anyone with money can produce a pop star now.

It comes down to old school, to preserve the ancient arts. With minor assistance to enhance the arrangement without being a fraud, and actually being a studied journeyman of the methods and craft.
Well there's a lot of mass produced garbage out there. And then there are real musicians who can still perform live and unplugged. Singers who sing a capella.
Everyone is not a tone death moron.
@Humpleupagus @EvolLove @MummaBear wait till he hears about the evertune Bridge.
@EvolLove @DrFell @Humpleupagus @MummaBear same goes for tool assisted music. If music is high quality in production, but low quality in artistic merit, no one will listen. If the production is shit, but the music good, everyone will listen.
But having said that. If you put enough money and industry psyop behind anything you can make it popular.
@EvolLove @DrFell @Humpleupagus @MummaBear this argument about AI is stupid. Sure AI can make music. But who will listen to it? Music is art. And we don't make art because it's good. We make it because we want to. See as evidence every high school band ever.
even if AI can make a simulacrum of art, there's no point engaging with it. The place for AI music is in elevators and shopping malls.
@DrFell @ned @Humpleupagus @MummaBear
We still have music school. Young students are learning to play instruments and how to sing and they learn from real musicians and they practice on folk music and blues and rock and pop.
And there are classical schools too and people still sing in the churches.
I don't think people will forget about music soon. And when there is real music people will recognize it.
@DrFell @Humpleupagus @EvolLove @MummaBear it's a bridge on a guitar that balances the tension on each string individually such that it's always in tune no matter what. Vibrato no longer works. If you bend a string slightly the bridge saddle moves with it and the note stays the same pitch. Metal rythym guitarists use it a lot so they can thrash around on stage without sounding like ass.
@ned @Humpleupagus @EvolLove @MummaBear
Are you talking about a bridge on a stringed instrument, Evertune? Is there such a thing?
@Humpleupagus @DrFell @EvolLove @MummaBear TBF drop D on an evertune is also a pita
@MummaBear @nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell
A conspiracy does not have to mean that it is done for some evil purpose. Normal meetings can be specified as such.
It's a known conspiracy theory. Might be true might be false. I have no stake in this so I am fine with it either way.
I just find it interesting. Would I be able to hear the difference?
Is there a difference in quality?
What did we lose what did we gain when we changed it?
Perhaps Ill just ask some professional audio engineer. 😀
@EvolLove @nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell it's a huge conspiracy why " they" change it
@MummaBear @nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell
That is the one I was thinking about. So it was before the digitalization then.
@MummaBear @nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell
I have no idea when it started. I just remember that ever since the CD it have been a re occurring topic. Perhaps it was only among musicians?
Some even went back to LP again. Perhaps it was more about pr than sound quality. Something to make U stand out.
When they get a demo on LP with cover and all. And fan service.
@EvolLove @nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell 1969 I think the 440 beginner standard. Frequency's are a whole thing regarding the bodies well being
@MummaBear @nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell
Wasn't there talk about hertz? 44 hertz compared to something something. It happened after we went from LP to CD and then there was something about the hertz was changed.
But that was not about pitching though.
@EvolLove @nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell the Hz changed in the 1960? I forgot
@nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell @EvolLove what's that guy he gives loads of examples. Even Freddie Mercury was destroyed
@MummaBear @nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell @ned
Are old records being remastered with this technique? Sounds a bit excessive. Some natural imperfections are just what makes it perfect.
@nanook @Humpleupagus @DrFell @ned @EvolLove they are going back and pitch correcting everything 😭
@ned @DrFell @Humpleupagus @MummaBear
Yes anything can be made trending these days. If you hear a song enough times. I think there is even some science done on that topic.
But I don't think artists like Taylor Swift will be remembered after the money dries up.
