@polarisera reposted your post (polarisera@spinster.xyz)'s status on Friday, 18-Oct-2024 00:30:08 JST @polarisera reposted your post @FemaleIsNotAFeeling @Fullycaffeinated There was a time when you were not even entitled to how your name was spelled or pronounced. I'm told the Chinese are much more flexible than the Western noun/pronoun possesion, and expect their names to change in each region, how it is said and spoken. I think we once did the same with very common names, like John... a John would expect to change his name in each country he traveled.

feld (feld@friedcheese.us)'s status on Friday, 18-Oct-2024 00:30:08 JST feld @polarisera @FemaleIsNotAFeeling @Fullycaffeinated my wife's grandfather had his name spelled wrong when he immigrated to the US from Sicily and it turned his name from Italian to Mexican but he just went with it I guess? Could have just filed the paperwork to correct it but I guess nobody really cared as much back then or something -

Caffosaurus☕?:mayo: (fullycaffeinated@spinster.xyz)'s status on Friday, 18-Oct-2024 00:30:09 JST Caffosaurus☕?:mayo: @FemaleIsNotAFeeling Okay, but if you are taking to him, would you not be using the second-person pronouns (you)? So essentially he wants to control how you speak (and think) about him. "They" can go fuck himself. -

FemaleIsNotAFeeling (femaleisnotafeeling@spinster.xyz)'s status on Friday, 18-Oct-2024 00:30:09 JST FemaleIsNotAFeeling @Fullycaffeinated Yes I've heard that point made before...that when you're talking to someone, you don't really say he or her much to that person, it's mostly "you." So they are trying to control how you talk about them to others and when they are not around.
