it was a good talk but that nigga is retarded for wearing a mask even when speaking. covid is over BOZO. also you're far from others when you're standing up there i think.
I did not realize initially that this is Cory Doctorow. I am surprised it took him that long. I am surprised he did not start by holding up a copy of his book, or a digital reader of some kind (hacked of course) displaying his latest work for all to see.
@sun I have enjoyed a few things he's written here and there but not the novel I tried to read. It's been too long and I found the characters to be the worst kind of plot devices, but maybe I just picked the wrong one. Doing PCP for the hell of it at a party when your girlfriend is calling you a retard for doing it was enough to go read something else and not come back. MC is a retard and author is making a ham-fisted point.
@sun@MMS21 I agree with that but at the same time: the mask *is how to protect yourself and eachother in that situation*
if literally everyone in that room wore high quality masks consistently, it could be reasonable to *have* rooms like that with *some* people in them
and high profile people like @pluralistic can do a lot of good by changing people's behaviour to wear high quality masks consistently. Though obv. travelling and appearing at such conferences definitely isn't as they say 'a good look' even at his scale
@sun@shitposter.world i mean if you want to protect yourself it will actually work at least. if i had to go to a super spreader event and was worried about geting sick id wear a full cbrn getup though
@anemone honestly too I don't think anything will convince me that masks work because for decades they said masks were for not making others sick. there are other studies that show people with correct masks rarely wear them correctly anyway
@sun@anemone literally, this has been repeated to people since the initial period of panic subsided, you can't protect yourself by wearing a mask even if you wear it backwards, it's for protecting others. if you're visiting your grandma or something, wear a mask to protect her, giving her a mask won't do shit
You foolish fools never realized that the flurries were far ahead of everyone, wearing full body masks and not giving covid one inch of skin to attack.
@eemmaa@anemone my point is that n95 mask is for keeping particles out, if you want to keep from spraying particles you can use a bandanna. the deliberate conflation of masks for protecting you from spreading and protecting you from getting it spread to you has been a constant factor in official covid propaganda
@anemone@sun it seems like an obvious logical conclusion that covering your mouth while sick in public helps other. It’s been the fashion in Japan for awhile I’m pretty sure. Only covid makes this a controversial statement, because politics brain.
@sun@shitposter.world ive seen pre-covid studies that show that surgical mask wearing prevents the spread of disease since it does reduce droplet spread while coughing
@eemmaa@anemone fauci lied about masks protecting you at all when he was trying to protect the supply of n95 masks, then did a complete 180 so it's definitely deliberate.
to be perfectly clear I believe that if you are or might be sick you should wear a mouth covering, and if you're going to be in a crowd then it makes sense to wear a good mask. but if you believed everything that you were told in 2020 then you shouldn't be gathering voluntarily in large groups where hundreds of people get sick every year from other diseases.
@sun@anemone I don’t think there’s any reason for the conflation other than it’s easier to just tell everyone to wear mask, rather than give them scenarios for when it’s useful.
@anemone@eemmaa yes he did, he is on video, which you can watch on youtube, saying that you can get AIDS from living in a house with someone with AIDS.
@sun@anemone deliberate what tho, deliberate simple instructions, deliberate removal of instruction to protect supply line? but I dont think there is a deliberate attempt to teach you false information, its simply that simple instructions are easier to follow and details arent needed for the average person.
@eemmaa@anemone it was a deliberate attempt to feed false information, he said they didn't work to spread disease to convince people not to buy them. I don't have the source but he even said he was saying untrue things just to get people to do what he needed the outcome to be, he sugarcoated it but he just basically said it.
@eemmaa@anemone if you really look into him, I won't call him evil or a scumbag but he operates with a moral code that is different than normal people agree with but is more common with people that become "public servants"
@sun@shitposter.world@eemmaa@girlboss.gaslight.love he probably sees it as necessary for the overall public good but ignores that this kind of shit erodes public trust over time which is a large source of problems today
@jeffcliff@MMS21@Nudhul@sun@anemone Not saying covid is over. Some people still get pretty heavy symptoms. Saying the vaccine companies have admitted openly they didn’t test the vaccine for preventing transmission and it has shown to not stop transmission at all so with the various side effects it produces why should you take it. If it don’t stop transmission of virus it strictly speaking isn’t actually a vaccine
> A whole lot of words just to say nothing. Polio is caused by shitty sanitary conditions.
And a virus. Or are you one of those 'viruses don't exist' people? Polio is running wild in gaza right now and the lack of vaccinated people provide an entry point to its re-emergence in north america. It's a serious problem that was, for a time, not as serious of a problem because of a successful vaccination campaign.
> They used to throw buckets of shit into the streets in London where polio was rampant. Is there evidence of the polio vaccine back then stamping out the disease?
Yes. How many people do you know, personally, who have had polio?
> I already wasted my time reading your first link. Show me evidence of your claims.
Those two links *are* evidence. you can watch the debate yourself, he comes right out and walks back on the mercury-in-vaccines hypothesis.
> A poison doesn't become medicine if you use it in a low dose.
The dose matters a lot. Even drinking enough water can cause toxic shock, does that mean you should never drink water?
> They call the sickness after being vaccinated "side-effects" when it's anything but a side-affect, it's a direct effect of taking a vaccine when you feel poorly afterwards and your arm becomes numb
Hrm let's do the comparison here
you get a vaccine and you feel kind of sluggish and cruddish for a day or so, and then walk away as if nothing happened
you get covid because not enough people around you got vaccinated and you get diabetes. or heart disease. or permanent brain damage.
no contest.
> Medicine isn't supposed to do harm. The Hippocratic oath states that yet you've got niggers in lab coats handing out jabs like candy.
And at the same time medicine allows for doctors to literally take a knife to you and cut open your chest *if the alternative circumstances mean you coming to more harm*. The 'harm' prevented by vaccines is greater than the 'harm' caused by immune system challenge of the vaccine itself.
> Corrupt bastards in the government want to
EXPOSE YOU TO COVID
this should be CRYSTAL fucking clear joe biden HAD COVID and WAS OUT IN PUBLIC WITHOUT A MASK.
A whole lot of words just to say nothing. Polio is caused by shitty sanitary conditions. They used to throw buckets of shit into the streets in London where polio was rampant. Is there evidence of the polio vaccine back then stamping out the disease? Seems more likely to me that they slowly stopped acting like Indians and the problem solved itself.
I already wasted my time reading your first link. Show me evidence of your claims. A poison doesn't become medicine if you use it in a low dose.
They call the sickness after being vaccinated "side-effects" when it's anything but a side-affect, it's a direct effect of taking a vaccine when you feel poorly afterwards and your arm becomes numb. Medicine isn't supposed to do harm. The Hippocratic oath states that yet you've got niggers in lab coats handing out jabs like candy.
Corrupt bastards in the government want to take the tax dollars for themselves and pharma gets them to mandate toxic jabs so they can both profit.
So they don't put mercury, aluminum and other harmful shit in vaccines so your body has a immune response to it?
Pretty sure they still do. Other harmful, abrasive chemicals are used in the manufacturing process and remain in the final dose but they cope and say it's too low amount to do harm. That's bs.
@MMS21@sun the US stopped putting mercury in the vaccines that people like wakefield, the geiers , rfkjr & similar grifters around 2000. They still used the same lines *decades* after because people like you didn't notice. Because it was basically harmless.
Do they use adjuvants in current vaccines? Sure. Do some people have reactions to adjuvants? Sure. on the order of 1-in-10,000,000 per dose in canada and something similar in the US. meanwhile 1 in *2* people get permanent organ damage from covid, around 1 in *6* get long covid per infection.
> Other harmful, abrasive chemicals are used in the manufacturing process and remain in the final dose but they cope and say it's too low amount to do harm.
Yeah you're just passing off antivax BS as truth. But are you therefor against ALL other vaccines? ie polio vaccines too? How about gardasil?
yes it is. there's no point in being overly cautious about it anymore. also vaccines are bs with mercury + other poisonous metals in them. i have aluminum in my blood stream now and all it did was boost pharma company stock prices.
@sun@shitposter.world The "Covid is not over" crew seem more interested in ritualistically defending their choices in 2020/21 as something that should be done always. It makes sense if you remember how thick the propaganda was, and that most of these people only trust 2-3 sources of information to form their worldview.
